buffub records into one of the buffers provided by the buffer_host. you can either select an existing soundfile (buffer) in buffub and record into that (the soundfile on your harddisc will remain untouched), or you can create an empty buffer in buffer_host with the function "sample-buffer" (see info in buffer_host).

buffub can either use an external source (such as a microphone or line-in), or an (lloopp-) internal signal, when addressed as a plug-in.

~ external source:

enable "adc~" (analog-digital-converter) by checking the toggle. two menus will appear, where you can select your hardware-options (this is the same as defining hardware-options in the dsp-window).

~ internal source:

uncheck the adc-toggle and address buffub from another act as a plug-in.

you can view your input signal on the left and adjust it with the two sliders. use the link-switch to either link the sliders or not.

next to the input signal you can select your buffer (provided by buffer_host) in the menu, then define the position where to record into that buffer. if you press "f" the full-length of the buffer will be recorded.

press the "rec" toggle to record.

~more options:

under the adc~ toggle you'll find three more toggles - loop, append and < >key.

~loop: the recording stops automatically at the defined endpoint by default unless you select this.

~append: this means that recording will start at the last point it was stopped.

~< >key: if this is toggled, you can use the < >-key of your keyboard to start/stop recording.

the pink slider next to these toggles is the mix-level. thanks to thomas grill's xrecord, buffub can be used to mix the incoming signal with the existing soundfile in the buffer. the mix-level is at maximum by default, which means, the incoming signal replaces the existing soundfile completely. mix-level at minimum (bottom) will record nothing, leaving the existing buffer untouched. any value in between will mix the existing soundfile with incoming signal.

the currant recording-position (as indicated in the signal-numberbox right of the buffer-menu) can be sent elsewhere: either as a message to a parameter selected with the green menus on (!) pressing "pos" or in signal domain to any signal (audio)-in/out of another act.
